Steven Kennedy died following an assault in Plaistow Park.

A man was arrested and later charged with his manslaughter, but nothing more is known.

It was said that Steven Kennedy had suffered a traumatic brain injury after trying to break up a fight between two men who were rowing over a dog in Plaistow Park and being knocked to the tarmac ground.

He was attacked at about 11.35am on Thursday 30 May 2019. He was taken to hospital but died on Sunday 2 June 2019 after being put on life support.

A CT scan showed that he had suffered a subdural haemorrhage and a traumatic brain injury.

His post mortem gave a cause of death as being due to head injury.

Two men were arrested shortly after Steven Kennedy was injured, and one of them was charged with GBH and then later with manslaughter on 26 June 2019, but nothing more is known.

Steven Kennedy had been a Christian and had been a member of the River Church in Canning Town and a director of the River Christian Centre and was said to have travelled widely in Africa and eastern Europe carrying out missionary work.
